Have you ever wondered how to bridge theoretical constructs with clinical practice? Have you ever found that your graduate training hasn’t quite addressed all of the complex dynamics that arise in clinical practice? Here at our practice, we have developed a series of trainings for dedicated clinicians who would like to grow in competence and skill. Our experienced trainers know what it is like to face important clinical decisions right in the moment, and
know how important it is to be prepared. Our NY State CEU approved trainings are based on theoretical and clinical research, and they provide learners with tips and techniques that have proved effective at our practice. We make sure to keep our training groups small in size so that each participant can ask questions, engage in discussions, and be part of experiential exercises. We invite you to take a look at some of our curricula to see how we can help you on your career journey.

Introduction to Sand Play Therapy
Sara Gluck, PhD, LCSW
In Dr. Gluck’s words:
If I've ever had the chance to welcome you to my offices, you’ve probably seen my shelves of ‘stuff’ and heard about the sand play therapy modality, and been a bit intrigued. I was initially trained in sand play therapy from 2005-2007, during which I completed 7 levels of sand play training, and received individual supervision by Stephanie Hagadorn in Red Bank, NJ. I then went on to use sand play therapy with clients of all ages, and was asked to train my colleagues (who were very curious about all the paraphernalia I kept lugging into our shared office spaces) at Shalom Torah Academy (Manalapan, NJ) and at the Jewish Family Service Center (Clifton, NJ), and at training centers on Long Island. I’ve found the modality to be invaluable in daily sessions, especially with children, trauma survivors, and families.
At this point, I will be facilitating a 2-day training (5 hrs. per day) in Sand Play Basics. Day 1 will cover the history and theoretical basis for sand play therapy, how to talk to clients about sand play, and how to perform basic sand play techniques. Day 2 will focus on continued practice of sand play technique and application of the modality to disorders such as PTSD, ADHD, selective mutism, autism spectrum disorders, social skills difficulties, anxiety, depression, and family problems such as divorce.
Given that sand play therapy is an experiential treatment modality, it is best taught through the actual sensory experience of sand play. Participants in this course will have the opportunity to learn on several levels throughout the day. In order to maximize the learning experience, the training capacity is 8 participants.
